NRS 612 — Theoretical Foundations & Role Development in Nursing Leadership (3 credits)
Build core leadership skills in communication, decision-making, systems thinking, change, quality, safety, and operations. Offered Fall and Spring; PMHNP students meet these essentials in NRS 696A/696B.
NRS 625 — Healthcare Systems & Policy (3 credits)
Study how local, state, and federal policies shape care delivery, payment, and access. Review legal and regulatory forces and practice advocacy strategies. Offered Fall and Spring; program admission required.
NRS 645 — Advanced Leadership Roles in Healthcare Systems (3 credits)

NRS 692 — Introduction to Psychotherapy and Psychiatry (3 credits)
Learn core diagnostic criteria, build therapeutic rapport, and conduct psychiatric interviews. Survey common therapy modalities used by PMHNP prescribers. Offered Fall; PMHNP admission required.
NRS 693 — Diagnosis, Management, and EBP Treatment I (3 credits)
First in a three-course sequence covering diagnostics and treatment. Focus on neurodevelopmental, schizophrenia spectrum, depressive, bipolar, and anxiety disorders. Offered Spring; PMHNP admission required.
NRS 694 — Diagnosis, Management, and EBP Treatment II (3 credits)
Second in the sequence. Address OCD-related, trauma/stressor-related, substance-use, sleep-wake, feeding/eating, and personality disorders. Offered Summer; PMHNP admission required.
NRS 695 — Diagnosis, Management, and EBP Treatment III (3 credits)
Final course in the sequence. Cover dissociative, somatic symptom, elimination, gender dysphoria, disruptive/impulse-control/conduct, paraphilic, and other disorders. Offered Fall; PMHNP admission required.
NRS 696A — Equity and Management of Diverse Populations (1.5 credits)
Develop skills for culturally responsive care, address disparities and bias, and refine cross-cultural interviewing. Includes focus on BIPOC, LGBTQ+, pediatrics, geriatrics, pregnancy, veterans, medically complex patients, and trauma histories. Offered Spring.
NRS 696B — Transition to PMH Nursing Practice (1.5 credits)
Prepare for independent practice with emphasis on leadership, quality, safety, policy, and regulation. Review PMHNP role topics and board-exam readiness. Offered Spring.
NRS 701 — Advanced Pathophysiology (3 credits)
Gain advanced disease-mechanism knowledge to support diagnostic reasoning and clinical decisions. Offered Fall and Spring.
NRS 702 — Advanced Physical Assessment (3 credits)
Perform comprehensive histories and physical exams using advanced assessment skills. Offered Fall and Spring.
NRS 703 — Advanced Pharmacology (3 credits)
Study pharmacologic principles and commonly prescribed medications across the lifespan for advanced nursing practice.
NRS 714 — Clinical Practicum I: PMHNP Family (3 credits)
Begin supervised PMHNP practice managing mental health conditions across the lifespan; includes primary prevention. 250 clinical hours. Offered Fall.
NRS 715 — Clinical Practicum II: PMHNP Family (3 credits)
Advance supervised management of psychiatric disorders with continued prevention and maintenance strategies. 250 clinical hours. Offered Spring.
NRS 716 — Clinical Practicum III: PMHNP Family (3 credits)
Refine independent PMHNP skills and full-scope management across settings and ages. 250 clinical hours. Offered Summer.
MSN Clinicals
Advanced practice clinical experiences occur across three practicum courses with placements arranged near the student’s location. Most coursework is online; practicum and select activities require in-person engagement at clinical sites.

Certificate Clinicals
The certificate requires 750 clinical hours completed over three semesters, supported by a dedicated clinical coordinator and optional pre-clinical immersion. Placements align with the student’s goals and geography.

Tuition
